Painting with oils is sometimes just undeniable fun. I enjoy the freedom and spontaneity to make major changes in an instant and create large canvases when I want. Oil painting is exciting and a nice complement to working on my etchings - where a magnifying glass and a methodical manner of working is a necessity. For my oil paintings, as with the etchings, the play of light and shadows on a subject is what often provides the real inspiration. Some paintings are described as “Gallery Wrap”. Gallery Wrap is the latest contemporary presentation trend. With Gallery Wrap, the print extends around the sides of the canvas, which is precision folded and attached to the back – not the sides - of the stretcher frame. The canvas is painted on the sides, top and lower edges too. |
