Some of these black and white etchings are of sold out editions, editions which were never completed, and current editions still in production. Many times the first impression looks fine and could be offered as a black and white image. At times areas will be too light and it will be necessary to rework the plate with more line work, or aquatint or both. Often, to make way for color, it might be necessary to burnish areas of the plate to lighten them so they do not overpower the delicate watercoloring which follows.
These are priced according to how many are available, what condition the plate was in when the print was taken, and if it is one of a kind state.
